Moving Day The big day is here! Well, you've
planned it all out, have most of your chores done and now it's the day
to move. Have fun getting acquainted with your new home but
first, don't forget to:
- Double check closets, drawers and shelves.
- Arrange transfer of keys to property.
- Carry enough cash or travelers checks to cover moving and
traveling costs.
- Carry jewelry and important documents yourself.
- Say good-bye to your old home and neighbors, wipe your tears,
and set off for a new beginning.
A House Becomes Your Home Finally! You are at your
new home and you love it! The neighbors are friendly and the
kids have already met new pals. But you can't relax completely
yet, you still need to:
- Have utilities turned on and/or transferred.
- Check pilot light on stove, hot water heater and furnace.
- Notify post office to start delivery.
- Register children in school.
- Register family in new church.
- Arrange for medical services.
- Check with Department of Motor Vehicles regarding car and
driver's license. (Some states will penalize you if your car
isn't registered within 5 days.)
- Transfer motor club membership and obtain city inspection
sticker if required.
- Establish new charge accounts and have others transferred.
Now, sit back and enjoy your new home...you deserve it!
